Sky Coyote (The Company, #2)

Unusually, this book was better than its predecessor, In the Garden of Iden. I mean, you don't get the hilarious Elizabethan English exchanges, but what you do get is a more interesting protagonist. Here, Joseph dons the role of Sky Coyote so that he can interact with native Americans in 17th-century California. The book is funny, intriguing, and yes -- also raises more rumor rumbles of ethical flaws in the basis of the The Company running everything. I'll need to pick up the next in the series!
