Decided to throw it back with an old school English mystery by the Queen herself, Dame Agatha Christie..the premise as always simple yet oh so complex as all her works are and she has the coolest way of setting up a story and characters so vividly that by the time the murder happens you already know the suspects and have your own suspicions immediately..Of course you are always wrong because no one throws in a red herring quite like her she is so smart and calculating--the same scene can be replayed three different ways and still have an amazing conclusion, you can literally replace her murderer with any of the other characters given all of their suspicious pasts and still have a great mystery--so cool..So the story starts off with a newspaper announcement of a murder to take place at Ms Blacklock's house at six thirty p.m.-and of course curious neighbors appear to see what's going on when the designated time comes, the lights go out and a man is murdered with the only suspect being someone in the house..From there the backstories, family histories and secrets come out by the handfuls and the story gets a little convoluted for me with all the long-lost relations and motives and etc. but was still enjoyable.Another well written and a basically impossible to guess murder mystery--her trademark and after a disappointing read I knew I wouldnt be disappointed here and I wasn't..One of my favorite authors hands down...
