I really enjoyed this thriller, a follow up to Now You See Me, which I read as part of The Readers' Summer Book Club. It features Lacey Flint and Mark Joesbury again, but also features Evi Oliver, who was in Blood Harvest - I read Blood Harvest just before starting Dead Scared (yes, I'm having a little binge on Bolton's books), and loved reading about Evi again.

I was truly disturbed by Dead Scared - it's a bit gory in parts, and a little elaborately bit out there with its resolution - but I was so caught up in it I didn't find it too much of a stretch to believe in. I'm not too fussed about the Lacey and Mark relationship, so it didn't bother me that it didn't really go anywhere here (but fair warning if that's what you were hoping for from a follow up novel).

As I deserve with binge reading, I've now almost reached the end of Bolton's back catalogue - one more book to go - which is rather sad. Hopefully there'll be more in the future, including another featuring Lacey - I really would be interested to see, given her past, how she copes with any relationship with Joesbury.
