I went into this book not knowing what to expect. On one hand, I had a certain set of expectations because of the author. On the other, there was the fact that this was a children's book to consider. I'm a huge fan of YA novels such as Harry Potter, so I was excited to see what The Land of Stories had in store for me.

This book kept my attention and was an easy read. I think the writing style shows that this is a first novel for the author, but behind that there is a lot of potential for improvement. With time I really think Colfer will continue to get better and better.
