The word "Christian" does not lack connotations. Yet, "ones who walk with God" seem tragically absent among them. The Pursuit of God then is Tozer's attempt to bring the Christian into an appreciation of the importance of actually connecting with God.

Tozer, with few exceptions, is a good writer. Occasionally I got the impression that Tozer is enamored with his own writing, inflating form with little advantage to substance—he can be wordy. And he quotes from a King James Bible.

And while Tozer's overarching theme isn't particularly novel, there is no small amount of substance here. Tozer makes important and sophisticated connections among diverse sections of the Bible in ways that are meaningful to those of us who have little interest in theological garrulity. The book is even a bit daring to the mainstream Christian.

Worth reading and quoting.
