I want the story, no matter how strange or different the content is, to feel real and believable. It doesn't matter if it's fantasy, science fiction, or anything else, I need it to ring true. I never felt like this story did that, I could be naive, but the bi-sexual, incestuous, cross-dressing, transgender, homosexual sex roller coaster seemed too forced and unbelievable. John Irving is one of my favorite authors, but this tale didn't do a lot for me. I'm hoping that I enjoy the next book, which is in already in progress, more than this one.
