Precedes Criss-Cross by a year. Tells the story of how Debbie and Maureen fell out of best friendship over the course of a year, that year being 1970. What happens is Glenna Flaiber inserts herself between the two and steals Maureen away. Debbie feels all alone, but comes to understand she's not: she has other friends and will continue to make new ones.
