I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Not being America, and coming from a country that has a different history of race and migration. But just because something isn't immediately relevant to your life doesn't mean that it can't be entertaining and enlightening if it's well put together as this book is. How to Be Black is a deceptively light book blending humour, politics and biography that puts forth some strong ideas for the advancement of African Americans without loosing that lightness of touch.

I really recommend getting this on audiobook, Thurston gives good voice.
