it was amazing

I loved this book! I got into Lewis & Clark during my trip to Oregon over the summer, so I bought this book to learn more. It took me FOREVER to read, but it was a lot of fun. I felt like I was on the adventure with them! Ambrose's obvious passion for his subjects really showed through his writing; it was impossible not to love the explorers and their valiant quest as much as he did.

I also highly recommend watching the PBS documentary directed by Ken Burns and partly narrated by Stephen Ambrose (who has since passed away). It's one thing to read about their journey, but when you actually SEE images of the mountains they had to pass not knowing what they would find on the other side or how much more territory was ahead to cover, it really hits home how enormous their accomplishment was.
