At Last is Amy and Matt's story, and is very appropriately titled.I waited, with bated breath, to finally read first-hand the sizzling tension I could feel from a book away (seriously; check Lucky in Love). Anyway, I enjoyed it thoroughly, no disappointments from me. Lucky in Love had been my first and I hadn't expected it to be funny much less that funny (see review). Well, At Last just about knocked my socks off with some of the dialogue, both the humorous and the... hot.
I felt utterly relaxed throughout the majority of this book - which is great considering reading is my, and most persons, de-stressers (word? I dunno). Amy was a strong character and I loved the background story involving her grandmother; I almost felt like that should have been a book in and of itself, I didn't want it to end - it was that beautiful (I get very emotional over books). Matt was my idea of a perfectly-imperfect hero, he was smart, funny and kind and, most importantly, hot (in looks and mild 'baditude' (thank you, Don Winslow) ). Overall, I enjoyed all the characters in At Last and Riley was a very pleasant addition, despite circumstances, and I hope I'll be reading a book about her soon enough.
What I didn't like, now, was that I felt almost as if I were reading a modified version of Lucky in Love at points, with the 'no commitment' fiasco, the teenage problems, and that little trust issue at the end. I also didn't like how quickly the end came considering the slow pace of the book.
Anywho, lovely book.
