it was amazing

Batman New 52 has been a absolute joy, it is the kind of comic book that elevates the medium. It shows Batman as a detective, a hero and a hubris filled vigilante. Batman is shown at his most badass and his most broken. Scott Snyder is the best writer at DC comics right now, of that there is no debate. He his Batman is a compelling, smart, flawed and human hero. Snyder created his own villain with the Owls and they work, that is not an easy thing to do, a lesser writer under the weight of relaunch would have used a well known villain with an established back story in the Batman mythos. Snyder didn't, he has enough faith in his abilities to create compelling villains for his interpretation of the dark knight. The court and their talons are a welcomed addition to the history of Gotham.

The art of Greg Capullo is perfect for this kind of Batman story, it feels grounded without being ridiculously photo realistic. Batman is DC comics biggest rockstar, and Greg draws him that way, but he is also able to show a tortured and beaten knight with equal magnificence. Batman New 52 is great for newcomers and veteran comic lovers alike. Lets see if volume 2 will enable it to top Black Mirror.
