it was amazing
bookshelves: memoirs-auto-bio
Read from June 08 to 13, 2012

The author Shadid died in February 2012 from a severe asthma attack in Syria, a month before
the publication of his memoir. It is a fascinating portrait of the year he spent repairing
the abandoned home of his great-grandfather in the small village of Marjayoun in Lebanon.
Along the way we hear the history of his family as well as the history of Lebanon. An
informative and yet intimate account of a year spent trying to regain a sense of home for
himself as well as for his extended family. I loved this book.
