This is the first book that I have read by Christopher Moore and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It began with the death of Van Gogh which his painter friends believed was a murder. A strange little man called "the Colorman" has been seen around the area offering pigment to painters. Painters are dying. Strange things are going on. There are many of our famous impressionists represented as characters in this dark comedy/mystery and I loved the way they were interwoven into the storyline. I will have to look up some of his previous novels. He's definitely a different sort of author than I had expected and his writing is great fun.
