Salt was interesting in some parts and deadly boring in others. The origins of words, phrases and behaviors all based on salt were very interesting and were the parts that made me say, "Really?!" But a lot of the book was dull descriptions about salt-making, padded with old recipes for brining and picking various food items.
I'm sure this book will appeal to foodies and those who enjoy non-fiction. For me, well, it's just another case of me wanting more narrative instead of polished factoid after factoid shoved under my nose.
