I really liked this, which is rare for a Free Friday's book. Usually they're just ok. But I liked the "slice of life" storytelling. I did not know going into it that this was part of a larger series; if I'd read some of the other books I might have been a little fed up with the repetition and introducing characters and trips to the dept of back story. As it was, I thought it was really interesting, like reading how people talk and tell stories- starting with an overall story and then explaining bits and pieces of back story as you go so your listener/ reader isn't lost. I realize a lot of books do that, but for some reason this one felt like it did it better.
