THREE WISHES starts light and madcap but then, while it retains the high spirits, you begin to see the wrecked foundations underneath.

The protagonists are triplets, but Lyn and Cat are identical and Gemma is their fraternal sibling -- that sets up the tension from before birth. The story is primarily about their 33rd year, but flits back in time here and there. I usually find flashbacks too distracting from the story, but Moriarty has handled them so that they do what they are supposed to do -- build the story and the tension.
