really liked it
bookshelves: abuse, death, gender-roles, poetry, ya
Read in June, 2012

Things I liked about this novel:
1. It presented teenagers as people capable of questioning their relationships with G-d.
2. It showed the evolution of the protagonist into a strong female character.
3. It had well-developed characters with rich backgrounds.
4. It was written in prose and had some excellent formats that provide good material to analyze.

Things I didn't like about this novel:
1. It paints a portrait of LDS families as brain-washed, overly-male-centric, and abusive.
2. The author kind of glorifies teenage sex. I understand that teens having sex is a concept that is here and now and we need to deal with it, and I do appreciate that (view spoiler)
