Philip K. Dick's Hugo-Award-winning alt. history shows the world as it would have been had the Axis won WWII. The book, similar in its plainspoken declarative style to John Hersey's Hiroshima, follows several characters as they go about their lives under the new regimes. Though the plot peters out towards the end with strange character choices and a stalled story, it is easy to be enthralled by the fully realized world Dick creates.

This one is recommended for readers who would like to experience Philip K. Dick, but not has mind-bending sci-fi novels.
