Perhaps I'm spoiled by having read Christie, Hammett, Mankell, and Larsen but, this novel is so obvious from the beginning that the only reason I didn't put it down was to satisfy my curiosity on how the author would reveal the ending. Cardboard characters, red herrings who practically wore "it's not really me" signs on their foreheads and an inspector or whatever he was who seemed practically a secondary character make for a lot of frustration on the reader's part. Based on this novel I can put Karin Fossum in the don't bother reading bin.
