Outrageously funny at times (okay, most of the time) and featuring over-the-top characters and situations, but - this felt inevitable - lacking emotional depth. I'm guessing that emotional depth wasn't the goal of the book, but without it, a book doesn't really stick to my ribs.

The book is precisely what the subtitle tells you: "a novel of sex, theft, friendship and musical theater." The characters were all believable in their own crazy ways, and there were many moments, listening to it, that I laughed so hard I almost cried. There's plenty of swearing, and plenty of fairly graphic sexual encounters, and plenty of blackmail, money laundering, theft. So not for the innocent middle schooler by any means, but a very entertaining choice for the more hardened YA looking for a good laugh and a crazy plot.
