I'm not going to say that Ann Rule has let us down, but this book did seem in some way diminished when compared to some of her previous offerings. Even apart from the ending, which was different from her other true crime novels due to the nature of the case, the narrative seemed to lack the depth and scope that I've come to expect from Rule.
