Easily one of the best novels I've read in the last three or four years! Historical fiction with deconstructivist tendencies -- if I'm remembering my literary criticism terms and using them correctly.

Laurent Binet became obsessed with the WWII Czech Resistance operation to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich at an early age, and his lifetime of research results in this, half historical fiction, half memoir of the writing of the book. Fascinating and really well done.

J. Bryce English translation by Sam Taylor -- Taylor's first translation, apparently, but a masterful job he did!

I don't read French well enough to get past the title page.
