An easy read and perfect for an ebook. The author does a good job of logging her journey along the PCT. I found I really liked her guts and courage to go out on such a wilderness trail alone and to push her limits. I've always admired women who are tough and independent.
In many ways, the book is inspirational, but the part I found hard to relate to was her history. She got thru this adventure as her world was falling apart. She touches lightly on the drugs and broken marriage that she casually blames on herself. It makes you wonder how the same person could go from a mid-west lifestyle, to fooling around, to heroin addiction and come out the other end as a tough but sensitive, intelligent and all together woman.
But, it's the story of the daily grind on the trail, some interesting characters and her determination that won me over and kept the book light on for some great nighttime reading. It also fits my current personal desire to walk long distances for the challenge and reflection it provides. I admire her effort and and easily relate to her experience.
