Be prepared for tears. This is a touching book. Perhaps it is because older people near and dear to me have passed on and I remember things about them quite fondly. This is a book that will remind you of those connections. It is about a family living with their grandfather. The youngest boy, 10, goes walking with him every day around the farm he owned and has left the care of to his family. They take the same route each day and grandpa remembers things especially his sod house that he lived in before he built the wood house they are now living in. Grandpa wants Jake to rebuild the sod house. Jake wants his Grandpa to live forever. This is a wonderful book, very touching, about an angel dog, the love of a boy for his grandpa, and a family that is bound by love and commitment. A great addition to her other books.
