I really struggled through the first 5 (very long) chapters of this book. I thought that Shreve's writing was very slow and almost too wordy at times. However, this was one of those books that is very slow up until the very end when the reader is bombarded by a bunch of surprises. I personally like this style of writing although I know some other people do not. I wish that the whole book was as fast paced as the last chapter, but then again I don't think it would have had the same effect. The last chapter pulled this book from a 2 to a high 3 for me. I struggled between wanting to give it a 4 and knowing it didn't own up to some of my other 4s. I did like this book and would recommend it to others!

Melanie i REALLY want to read this when you're done! Can't wait for your review!

Kayla I decided against it right now!! I never even picked it up because I picked up Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst (the author who wrote The Dogs of Babel!) =] But I will get to this before I come home for your birthday and bring it with me =]
