His Best Man by Abbey Kypner is the first book I have ever read in the erotic m/m genre. I have never really been into these type of books but after a large number of GR readers suggestions, decided to give it a shot!!!!!!!!!! And since it was a free e-read I wouldn’t be spending money on a book I would like enjoy. The synopsis sounded interesting as well.

Overview: It's hard for Ian to be in love with a straight boy. It's even harder when the love of his life is getting married. On top of it all, Chris has asked Ian to be his best man. But when Chris gets cold feet he runs to Ian for comfort, and things get a little heated when old feelings flare up once more...

Okay, I did like this book, even though it’s a very short story (something like 11 pages)..and I do not particularly like short stories…
I really liked Ian and the way he handled his unrequited love for his best friend Chris. However I couldn’t quite buy into the whole thing with Chris…I mean the guy has slept in same beds with Ian, even been kissed but hey…I am not into guys thing!!!!!!! He finally meets the girl of his dreams and marries her even knowing how much it hurts Ian…then invites him to be his best man. I wanted to kick Chris in the butt!!!!!! And then he goes and cries his heart out to Ian, decides to try it out with a guy to see if he likes it!!!!!!! Does he ever think how it will affect Ian if he doesn’t like it????????

Well Chris does like it…and what does he do about it????????? He still goes ahead with marrying Mels……by this time I wanted to crack his head!!!!!!

And then…the ending….why the hell did Chris & Mels get married for heaven’s sake!!!!!!!!! If I was Ian I would throw Chris away and move on…but no…he comprises because he loves the worthless guy!!!! I wanted Ian to find someone who cared and wanted him for himself…and only him and not having to share with others!!!!!!!!! I really felt for him.

I thought the scene where Chris “loses” his virginity is very well written, very tastefully done…sexy and pretty hot.

I am still not convinced about a total m/m romance for me…when I read a book I want to feel part of the story and I don’t see myself in a m/m situation….

Saying that I am going to continue reading this genre and discover what the whole craze is about!!!!!!!!!!!

Cindi Alex, if you are interested in this genre, read something by Zathyn Priest. I suggest The Curtis Reincarnation because it is my fave by him but anything he has written will work. They are all amazing. Or start with his new one, The Statue. It's not erotic but it tells one hell of a story and you will get a feel for his writing style. Or go to my m/m shelf. There are tons of good ones to choose from.
