First off, I need to say that I think it's time for teen authors to stop pulling a "Speak" . . . having some huge life-altering event that is mentioned but not explained, and that comes out little by little. Unless you're trying to say something about the reliability of the narrator, it's just a bit of a trick.

Anyway, I must say that I enjoyed this book far more than I thought I would. I don't think I really understood what it was about before I started, and so I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and the uncommon viewpoints in it. The author gave us a voice that we don't often hear in teen lit and that, although we may not always agree, is good to understand.
