Recommended as beach/hammock/dog park reading.
Confession: I did not love this movie. The plot felt a little lacking.
But the book! The book is a fast, funny read and the protagonist and her family are highly relatable, right down to the freewheeling father who speaks in cliches. The plot isn't much different from any other in the genre, but the characters make up for it. Cook handles the subjects of marriage & divorce with admirable subtlety and sensitivity, so that your heart breaks for the characters dealing with divorce but the ones who have made marriage work stitch it back together.
This was the first book I've read by Claire Cook
-- I'm looking forward to reading more.
