it was amazing

Of course I would give just about any book by Anne Lamott five stars: I just love her funny, self-deprecating and unique voice, and the simple easy way she makes the transcendant real and tangible. But this book was especially fun after having a baby in the house myself: I desperately wanted her to be my kid's grandmother so she could document every cute, quirky thing she did over this first year of life. I will have to settle for reading about her grandson, Jax, instead.

She throws in trips to India and Europe as well just to add in a bit more spice, but the passages about her grandson are the ones that really glow.
