This is a well-written, thoroughly researched book on the deadly storm on January 12, 1888 that swept through the Great Plains. It reads like a gripping novel and the author lets the pain of the families and survivors show through. It gives detailed descriptions, in relatively layman's terms, of how the storm developed and became so devastating, and also explains the effects of hypothermia on the body. It gives info on the infant weather service and its attempts to forecast, and does it all in a very fascinating way. Great book by a great author.
