did not like it
Read from June 03 to 11, 2012

This wasn't the book for me. I have nothing against zombie books, but this book was a mix of a bad scary movie with a touch of British humor. I can't say it started out slow because the first chapters throw you right into the "everyone is turning to a zombie" horror, and you have the survivors running around trying not to be eaten. That was pretty much the gist of the book. Even the reason why and the twist were ripped out of your How to Write a Typical Zombie Novel Handbook.

The only thing that really set this book apart was its attempted humor. BUT for me, it was a bit on the ridiculous kind of silly and not the make-me-chuckle kind of funny I was hoping for. Bobby wasn't a bad character, but Smitty was just an obnoxious dumb goofball that I didn't care for. Things started looking up when I read, "Oh sweet Smart Retort Angel, where are you when I need you? I stared up at Smitty, not sure if I've just been seduced or insulted," but McKay didn't follow up with much, so I was left disappointed.

Overall, I just didn't like it at all because it just wasn't my cup of tea.
