Despite having some heavy subject matter, this book is really a fluffy beach read.

The story centers around Lolly, her daughter Kat, and her nieces Isabel and June. Lolly runs an inn in Maine and she has called her nieces home to share news with them and her daughter, who still lives with her. Each of the women is at a crossroad in her life.

So what does Meryl Streep have to do with it? Lolly is a big fan and she has movie nights at her inn. The movies of Meryl Streep facilitate discussion between the ladies and their guests, dealing with topics such as infidelity, death, divorce, lost love, and others.

I happen to love Meryl Streep, but this book made me realize that I have not seen as many of her movies as I had thought. I'll be checking them out. I don't think that you need to love Meryl Streep to love the book, though.

One of the reasons that it doesn't hit 5 stars for me is that we aren't given enough of Lolly's backstory. I think that could have been worked in easily. We needed to know what had happened in her marriage. I liked the resolution of Kat's and June's storylines. However, Isabel's storyline seemed to move way too quickly.

The writing is well-done. This is a great first effort for Mia March. I think you'll enjoy it.
