Rise of the Elgen (Michael Vey, #2)
by Richard Paul Evans
Me and my kids (7 & 9) enjoyed the first book in this series, but was blown away by the amazing ride the Electroclan faced in this book. I was glad it was released in the summertime, because we breached bedtime quite a few nights for them. The characters find out more about themselves and what they can do (and not just related to their powers). And there is a scene with Michael in "the bowl" that was gripping and electrifying at the same time (pun intended). Absolutely an amazing story, with a great message to go with it.
