Read in January, 1992, read count: don't know
I do NOT like scary horror books ("The Shining"!) but I absolutely LOVED "The Stand" and could read that over and over again. The movie/miniseries butchered it of course, but that's OK. That's what Hollywood does. "The Stand" may be classified as a horror book but more than anything it leaves you with a sense of hope for what King says has become of the human race. At our basest, we are ugly, selfish, scared, prideful, lustful monsters, but we are also loving, empathetic, kind servants of one another and our faith. What would we do if most of the world's population died out? I hope we never know...
