I have always enjoyed Louis L'Amour books for their straightforward simple values. This biography was enjoyable and shared some facts about the man, his background and his success. It described L'Amour's subjects as being of "strong character, decisive action, subdued emotions, that valued family loyalty above all legal and social obligations". How quaint! "L'Amour's hefty reputation is due more to the tides of popular culture than a literary style or landmark work. It could be said that he earned recognition as an author of influence in spite of the prejudice against his genre." Whatever, a solid and well done bio on a man that has sold over 300 million books from which over two dozen movies have been made.
