really liked it

Although I had bought this book because it was on the SC Jr. Book List for 2007-2008 and was a Newbery runner up, I just wasn't "grabbed" by the title or the cover. I did recognize Shannon Hale's name, though, and knew it would probably be good, if I could just get started. That turned out to be the case. It was a good, well told tale of an imaginary, but somehow, well know place where there is a prince who must choose his wife according to the dictates of the priests of his country. Mira, and the other young ladies, who are the candidates, are taken to a school where they are to be transformed from simple, country girls to potential princesses from whom the prince will choose a wife. Everyone changes in unexpected ways in this educational process.
