What a great addition to Jayne Castle’s Curtain series, Dark Light has delivered what was and is expected in the place called Harmony. Sierra McIntyre is a dedicated reporter who is intent on making her part of the world fair and just, a tall order for any individual. John Fontana, who appeared at first to be an obstacle to Sierra’s goal, gradually becomes a partner in her quest to find the missing retired guildsmen.
A well written delightful romp set in a land that is alien; yet vaguely familiar in its characters, moods, emotions and best of all in its enjoyment of everyday human foibles. The story as a whole did make me, as a reader; ponder as to the treatment of returning veterans of this and previous military actions, the reactions of society, politicians, intelligentsia and the public.
There is only one negative aspect to Dark Light; that the readers will have to wait a whole year till we can read about a place called Harmony and to see what kind of Dust Bunny will turn up next!
