This book grabbed my interest in the very first chapter with a 9-1-1 call to report a shooting in a school teacher's lounge. The next chapters went back in time just a few weeks to the beginning of the school year, and the story about interactions between teachers was entertaining and funny, enough to make me forget all about the shooting. So when it actually happened a few chapters later, when I found out what occurred before that 9-1-1 call, I was surprised, not even expecting it! The rest of the book deals with the aftermath and emotions of the shooting. The author did a great job of combining a serious topic with a little humor. It's deep and light at the same time. The main character, Frannie, a speech therapist, is so very real with her insecurities, hopes, and dreams for the future. I really liked her. A sequel to find out what happens next in her life would be great!
