really liked it

A long, detailed post-apocalyptic story, reminiscent of The Stand. I liked this quite a bit, though it was (very) slow in parts. I have to say, in the interview after the book, the author says he was writing a book about a girl who saved the world, but it doesn't FEEL like that. Amy is pretty passive and guided around by men, even if she's the powerful one. I know that these are supposed to be strong female characters, but essentially all of them are guided by or greatly affected by the male characters in a way that at least some of the strong male characters are not.

Maybe Amy will become more hardcore in the sequel (which I will read, even though I liked this one as a standalone).

Bla agreed. She is a bit of non-essential main character in the book.
