As an animal lover and an aspiring epidemiologist, I found this book incredibly interesting. Humans tend to be egocentric in a way that prevents us from realizing that many other creatures experience the same joys and miseries that we do, from partaking in intoxicating substances to having eating disorders. This book blurs the lines that separate us from those we feel we are superior to, and even shows exactly how understanding them will give us the knowledge required to improve upon human medical advances.
