In "The Gospel of Yes" Mike Glenn offers a clear presentation of the Gospel. As the text develops, Glenn offers something that feels much like one of Paul's letters such as Ephesians. Glenn declares that we need to say yes to the grace offered us by God through Jesus Christ and that we need to say yes to the truth of the resurrection so that we can recieve the amazing gifts that God has in store for us. After attempting to convince the reader of the truth of the Gospel and how saying yes to God's means of grace through Jesus Christ actually frees us rather than limits, Glenn leads readers to discover the richness of what it means to follow after Christ. Much like how Paul offers instruction in Ephesians regarding how we should live as the church who has said yes to following Christ, Glenn offers guidance on how we should live today as Christ's followers. He offers us insight into what it means to love within families, how we should make decisions about abortion and offer life to those struggling with an unwanted pregnancy, how we should approach our culture's obsession with consumption and stuff, and how we should treat our neighbors. In the midst of the discussion, Glenn offers great insight into the seemingly negative aspects of The Ten Commandments. He challenges all followers of Christ, all those who have said yes to the Gospel, to view the commandments as God's great yes so that we can live the life that God created us to live, in proper relationship with Him. Overall, Glenn offers a succinct and positive look at the Gospel. The prose in which he presents his arguement is slightly basic and did not draw me in immediately. Nonetheless, his presentation provides the soon to be disciple or the recently converted an introduction into the Christian life and inpiration for saying yes to the great gift of God's grace.
