My "in a nutshell" summary...

Marian gave away Kirby three days after Kirby was born.  Marian was 18.  Kirby is now 18 and has found her.  There are many secrets in this book...including a really big one about Kirby's father...Conrad.

My thoughts about this book...

This was a yummy perfect summery vacation road trip airplane kind of book.  It is just a sweet sad  story of decisions made when you are young and not ready for the future outcome of that decision.  Marian has been living a lie ever since she gave birth to Kirby and has sort of been waiting for the day Kirby would find her.  The outcome of this reunion is an awakening for everyone but especially for Marian.  Marian begins to become more real...more able to live the life she really wants to live.  This is mostly due to Kirby.  Kirby, of course feels different from her adopted family and needed to find Marian to discover why.  This leads both Marion and Kirby to the truth about Conrad, her birth father.

What I loved about this book...

I pretty much loved everything...we used to live where Kirby lives and there were so many cool references to places that I have been to.  I loved Kirby...so different so strong so unsure of herself.  I loved the way the author allowed her to find her place in the world...I loved her ultimate connection to Conrad through music.

What I didn't love...

The ending was appropriate but I wanted more...I wanted there to be a strong connection with Miriam, Conrad and Kirby...there may have been...but I sort of loved/hated the looseness of it.  It was perfect for the book but not for me...I wanted to know that everyone would go off together forever...lol...

My final thoughts...

I loved this book.  It wasn't so fluffy that you knew what was going to happen...it addressed issues...I can see a movie...Conrad played by...hmmm...Johnny Depp...no...the guy from The Green Hornet...no...maybe someone like Adam Levine?
Yes!!!
