Too analytically self-aware for my taste. In the work, Bechdel shows how Virginia Woolf converted pieces of her journal into fictional accounts like To the Lighthouse, highlighting real-life experiences but not bogging the reader down with the mundane. I wish she'd followed her idol's example. The more personal, locomotive Fun Home may have tapped the intrigue in Bechdel's life. Which is unfortunate as she seems convinced that she can't write fiction.
