Luke is finally plunged into the actions when, not his brother, but Lee's joins him at Hendricks School for boys. Smits is a real bother and all Luke wants is for him to go back, so he can stop pretending to know Smit, to be a Baren, to be Lee.
He is relieved when he finds out Smit will leave. But Smit is not the only one to leave. To his shock and terro Luke finds himself being taken back too; to this faimly he doestn' know, but has to know if he wants to be safe.
Luke is faced with politics and decissions he couldn't dream of in this epic fourth book in the Shadow Children sequence. Including weither he will hurt himself, or someone else.
