Neil Gaiman highly praised this in an interview in the New York Times(?); and since it takes place during a time period I really like, I picked it up.
It's 1850, and everyone has the Gold Rush fever. Eli and Charlie Sisters are guns for hire; stalking a man who claims to have found a way to easily find gold. The book follows their journey as they close in on their prey. Thoughtful yet funny yet at times violent...it had the same sort of feel as a slightly more modernly written True Grit. No wonder I liked it so much.
