Quarantine: The Loners (Quarantine, #1)

Quarantine is set in what could be any suburban high school and examines how a society might develop when all of the students are locked in the school after the release of deadly virus. Brothers David and Will attempt to navigate this new society and fly under the radar, avoiding the attention of the more popular and deadly cliques throughout the school. They are moderately successful until they rescue Lucy, a target of one of the cliques, and find themselves in the crosshairs of a class war. Quarantine is an interesting look at how groups form and just how survival of the fittest works. I thought the story was well developed and the characters were compelling. It did seem a little far fetched at times and I had some trouble believing all of the plot elements. It was also extremely violent and while I thought the violence fit the tone of the book and was important to the storyline, it did make the book less enjoyable for me. This review is based on a copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
