This book doesn't really serve as an in-the-field guidebook, but rather as a book that will provide background and history. It also reads more like a narrative than say, a Lonely Planet guide. But, there's some information about activities in this book that you won't find in Lonely Planet.

If you're planning to read as much as you can about a place before you set off, you should definitely pick up these guide books.
