I was not expecting to love this book. It was a read for my bookclub and not something I would have chosen for myself. It really is the story of a town named Blackwell and how the lives of the folks who have lived there are shaped by the town and its traditions and stories. We have one story from each generation beginning with the founding mother, Hallie Brady in 1750 through to James Mott's son, Arthur in about 2000. Some of the stories are connected by people, since many are related and all are connected by the town. Fascinating stories each one. Really a book worth the read. I will be reading more of Ms. Hoffman in the near future.
