I have a hard time starring this, reading this I grew slowly more confused and less enthralled every page I turned. Don't ask me when it got weird because honestly I'm not sure. All I know is that it started out absolutely perfect and everything was great and interesting and left me thirsting for more and than as I went on it got crazy weird. It was like going from white to black without any grey. Actually the whole book sort of felt like that. Don't get me wrong, the ideas of all the characters and everything where super awesome, but I didn't feel like it was a book that had any dropping points. Like a part where you could just sort of mull things over, the twist at the end wasn't a gasping moment, and I frankly didn't like it. Alliances were heavily blurred in this book and though it seemed intentional I didn't feel like I was there with them. Often the description of the scene weren't quite right and left me what the hell I had just read. But I'm not someone that bothers to go back and reread unless I really can't understand shit. Thing is I felt like this book was written like a child's book straight through. It was aimed for young adults and I understand the Carroll's book was not, and that's why it comes off as such but even with the dark aspect of the netherling realm it just ... It was too childishly whimsical at times. Don't ask me what makes me feel that way when the Hatter is practically cracking his skull bones to fit a million different faces, but it just - I don't know - did. I wish I didn't have to point out all the bad things, there are a ton of good things as well, it just feels just to let you see them for yourself. I do, in fact, plan on reading the second book (even though this was to much of an ending for me) so don't get me wrong in saying what I am. Seriously it's not a horrible read, I just wish that I could've enjoyed the whole thing as much as I had the first one hundred or so pages.

By the end I was just a little ... disappointed :(
