Solid entertaining four-star book. Sort of reminded me of what's going on in between our current times and the eventual end start of Orwell's 1984, but funnier. Max Barry creates a unique dystopian world where people are the company they work for, literally and figuratively. So much so that humans use their companies name as their last name (for instance I would be Brad Progressive). Very tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic take on an imaginative, eventual end-state of our devotion to brands, marketing and the horrors of advertising. Something tells me Mr. Barry was a former marketer or ad guy in his past life due to the overall crux of the storyline and inside jokes to the industry. Plenty of character development and great dialogue (which made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion) made this a very quick read. This is sure to enlighten any reader - young and old. Check 'er out.
